Here it is, the last week of the first trimester! I am so excited to finally be moving into the next stage! Not to mention the miscarriage risk is much lower now. I know Dr. H told us after hearing the heartbeat for the first time that we were pretty much in the clear, but that hasn't totally prevented me from still being worried. Then again, I have a feeling I will never stop worrying. The worrying will probably be worse once the baby is born, so maybe I should just enjoy this part :o)
My next OB appt. is next Thursday, week 14 exactly. Waiting 4 weeks to go back to the doctor has been driving me CRAZY! It's been months since it was this long between doctor's appts for me. I got very spoiled by all the appts and care with Dr. H's office. It's nice to be considered "normal" again, but I do miss all the extra care and monitoring!
The newest development, I'm actually hesitant to even admit it, because it seems to early for it, but here goes...I think there may have been a few times where I felt the baby. Most women don't start to feel things until much later, but literature I've read said that the baby is moving up a storm right now, and most women just mistake the feelings for gas bubbles. A few times now I've felt little "bubbles" below my belly button or off to either side. I just assummed they were gas bubbles, but they're not like any gas bubbles I've ever felt before, so maybe it actually is the baby! I'm trying not to get too excited about it just yet, but it does have me curious! One thing's for sure, I can't wait to feel the baby all the time and know that's what I'm feeling!
Anyway, now that all my rambing is over, here's this week's picture!
My blog began as a way to vent my frustrations surrounding our struggle with infertility. I am now ELATED that it has moved from an infertility to pregnancy blog and finally our baby blog! The scars of infertility will never fade completely, and truthfully I don't want them to. Infertility has impacted our lives in a way nothing else ever could, and I'm very grateful for all it has taught me. At some point we will probably be traveling down this road again in order to complete our family, but for now we are enjoying our amazing little guy! He's so much more perfect than we ever imagined he could be. I guess it's true what they say...good things DO come to those who wait! :o)

Happy Father's Day!
Just wanted to take a quick minute to wish all the important men in my life a very Happy Father's Day! When Matthew and I were buying cards for our dads and my grandpa I stopped to think of all the additional people who really were deserving of a Father's Day card as well. I'm incredibly blessed to have such wonderful people in my life! Not to mention the example that has been set for both Matthew and I by both sets of our parents is something you don't see very often any more. I only hope we can be half as good to our child(ren) as our parents have been to us!
So before I get too sappy and keep rambling let me say one more time Happy Father's Day to my dad, father-in-law, grandpa, and especially to Matthew on his first Father's Day as a soon-to-be daddy!

12 Weeks!
Matthew and I have been burning up the roadways in Illinois and Indiana for the last week, so my lack of posts are due to not being home since last Saturday. It was a nice change of pace though. We went to a friend's wedding in Chicao, got to see some friends who moved a couple of months ago, and then visited my mom for a couple of days. We definitely put the miles on my car over the last week!
The most fun news from the week is the doppler I've borrowed from our neighbor! She doesn't need it any more because her little guy is moving all the time. I've had so much fun listening to our little nugget's heartbeat! While I was home, I let my mom listen as well. For the first time the baby was actually staying in one place. Usually I have to chase it down. Since the baby wasn't moving I was able to keep the doppler in one spot for quite a while. All of a sudden we both got a HUGE blast to the ears. That was a sound I hadn't heard before, but suddenly realized that it was a kick that we'd heard! The heartbeat is so fun to listen to, but the kick was so cool too! I knew the baby was moving a lot and able to punch/kick, but I hadn't heard it before. Such a fun sound, even though it blasted us a bit!
Anyway, so here's the weekly belly shot! Today is 12 weeks! I can't believe that I'm almost done with the first trimester already! Time is really flying. I have two more weeks and then I go back to the OB :o)

11 Weeks!
I'm a day late in posting this, mainly because I didn't get around to taking the picture until last last night, but here we are at 11 weeks! Everything is still going smoothly, although I have to admit that not going back to the doctor for 3 more weeks kind of makes me nervous. I got REALLY spoiled going every 2! Thankfully my neighbor is letting me borrow her fetal doppler! So for those long hauls in between doctor's appts I will be able to (hopefully) hear the little nugget's heartbeat and be comforted that everything is ok! I do have to remember that the baby is still VERY small and depending on how he/she is positioned I might not be able to find the heartbeat. Hopefully I don't freak myself out too many times :o) I defintely can't wait to try it out though!
Well here we go, the 11 week belly shot! I think it looks slightly smaller this week, or at least the same, no bigger, mostly because now that I'm off of the progesterone shots some of the bloating I had is going down. Hopefully it turns into all baby and no bloat soon!

First OB Appt!
We have FINALLY joined the ranks of those with "normal" pregnancies! Our first trip to the OB was today. Everything went really well. We had another ultrasound of our little gummy bear (that's what it looks like!) Thank goodness this one was longer than the previous two because it's our last one until I hit the 20 week mark :o( I know that's a good thing. You shouldn't want extra ultrasounds, because that means there might be a problem, but I've gotten so accustomed to seeing the little guy/girl that it's going to be really hard not to for so long.
We actually got two forms of the u/s today. First she used the internal, which for most people would probably be scary. For me, not so much. I've had more experiences with the internal u/s in the last 9 months that it's second nature. I think she was surprised I wasn't freaked out by it. She was measuring the baby and checking the heartbeat (still never get tired of hearing it!) and told me that baby was measuring 9w4d. It kind of worried me a little bit because I'm 10w1d today. So I asked if that was a problem, the baby measuring a few days behind. She said no, but told us that sometimes with the internal they can't get the full crown to rump measurement, so she'd try the external/abdominal to see if it changed the measurement any. Using the abdominal u/s the baby measured right on target 10w1d. BIG relief!
It's so amazing how much the baby grows and changes in just a week and a half! So without further ado, here are the 10w u/s pics!
In the first one baby's head is up and pointed to the left. The black spot, again, is the brain. You can see little arm/hand buds, the bright white spots, and the lower bright white spots are leg/foot buds. Baby K should be able to bend his/her arms now and legs should be bendable very soon! The fingers and toes are now seperating, no more webbed feet and hands yea!!!
This second pic is more a measurement of my uterus, but the sound waves at the bottom are Baby K's heartbeat! The heart was being nice and strong at 167 beats/min. You can see a little bit of the baby in this pic, but it's harder because the baby wasn't the main objection in this particular picture.
Well enjoy these pics...they're the last ones for 10 weeks! Eeek! Hopefully I can last that long :o) Grow little baby, grow!

10 Weeks!
Well today is 10 weeks! It seems like time is going very quickly! Most days it feels like we just got the results of the pregnancy test. Tomorrow is my first appointment with the regular OB. It feels so good to finally have a "normal" pregnancy! We get another ultrasound tomorrow, which makes me really excited. This will be our last one until 20 weeks, so hopefully it lasts a while! I can't wait to see the difference in our little bambino since last Monday.
I don't have a whole lot to blog about today. Life has been pretty uneventful, which is actually a good thing. I'm enjoying summer vacation and spending time with Sophie pup. She's enjoying it too! So, since there isn't anything new baby related here's the weekly picture! Enjoy!

The news is out
Well...we've finally shared the news. Talk about SCARY! Once you start telling people there's no turning back. I know the doctor has told us that it's completely safe to start sharing our excitement, and the odds of something bad happening now are very low, but it's still quite scary to make the OFFICIAL announcement! I never in my wildest dreams imagined I wouldn't want to tell people!
Matthew has been chomping at the bit to finally be able to make the announcement. He was SO excited when Dr. H told us it was safe to finally tell people. So since today was the last day of school (YEA!!!!) I took pink and blue cookies as a treat for the staff and to tell everyone. We sent postcards to our grandparents, the soon to be great-grandparents, and a fun email to the rest of the family and close friends. Then came the REALLY big announcement...Facebook. Once it's on Facebook there is absolutely no turning back! So it's out there now. The FB world knows and I've been slightly panicked ever since! Hopefully that feeling passes quickly!
Today is 9weeks 4days. My first OB appointment is on Friday at 10w1d. And here is the best news of the week...my progesterone shots are over on Friday! My butt is SO happy!!!!!!
