My blog began as a way to vent my frustrations surrounding our struggle with infertility. I am now ELATED that it has moved from an infertility to pregnancy blog and finally our baby blog! The scars of infertility will never fade completely, and truthfully I don't want them to. Infertility has impacted our lives in a way nothing else ever could, and I'm very grateful for all it has taught me. At some point we will probably be traveling down this road again in order to complete our family, but for now we are enjoying our amazing little guy! He's so much more perfect than we ever imagined he could be. I guess it's true what they say...good things DO come to those who wait! :o)

13 Months!

Well it's happened, I've slacked on the blogging again.  I guess that's a good thing though right, I mean, I could be sitting here typing away while my child plays all alone on the floor.  I'm not blogging as frequently because I'm busy with G when we get home, so I guess it's ok that the blogs are few and far between.  :o)  (That's what I'm telling myself anyway!)

Well, as if his age and the fact that he is walking didn't already consider G a toddler, his attitude and behavior lately DEFINITELY make him one!  My sweet, cooperative little baby has disappeared and been replaced by some crazy, temperamental child.  I really don't like it.  Ok, I guess I shouldn't complain too much because he was SUCH an easy baby, we're due for a little rough patch I suppose, but man is it hard to take!  Now don't get me wrong, he's not like this all the time, but when he is mad, he does not hesitate to show it!  He will throw his head back and wail like there is no tomorrow.  Then when he doesn't get the reaction he's hoping for, he follows us around crying, arms extended like he needs comfort and sympathy.  I'm sure I'm sounding a little hard-hearted here, but when the fit is the result of a toy being taken away because he threw it, or because I've interrupted his hot pursuit of the dog, who he insists on torturing, then I'm not so sympathetic.  He thinks throwing his toys is funny, thinks the word 'no' is even funnier than throwing the toys, and the most hilarious thing on the planet (to my child anyway) is to chase the dog and make her growl.  One of these days the dog is going to get fed up...look out G!  Not to mention his favorite past time now includes throwing his toys behind our TV.  Not exactly the safest thing for the child to be doing.  To say he's a strong-willed toddler is an understatement I'm afraid.

He still does some of the cutest, funniest things ever, and in those moments I blissfully remember the sweet, cooperative, caring little baby he used to be.  He now understands what a hug is, and when I ask for a hug and hold my arms out, he will run in to them and throw his arms around my neck.  Talk about the best part of my day!  If he would do that all the time, I'd be in heaven!  I know he's a boy, I know he's just testing the waters, I know it's just a phase, but ugh, it's a stinky one!

Wow...nothing like going on hiatus for almost a month and then doing nothing but griping and complaining when I finally do reemerge!  Even though the days are met with frustrations, I still wouldn't trade him for anything in the world.  His laugh and smile can brighten the darkest of days.  I just hope he's always that way.

Now to end the post...a little comedy for you.  Last weekend we were watching the Butler basketball game on TV.  G became VERY excited about the game at the end.  I can't do it justice talking about it, so here you go!

1st Birthday!

Well it happened, our little guy turned one at the end of December.  I really can't believe that he's one already!  This has been by and far the fastest year of my life.  It's been filled with so many fun new firsts that I can't even begin to pick my favorite.

G's birthday party was a lot of fun.  It was a lot of work to get everything ready, but when it was all said and done, I was pretty proud of my efforts.  The pictures will do a much better job than my description, so here ya go!

Christmas!

Well I've slacked again, but at least it wasn't two months since my last post!  What an amazing Christmas we had this year with our little man!  Although he really couldn't have cared less about opening presents, he sure enjoyed the tree.  I was pleasantly surprised that he didn't bother it all that much either.  The look on his face each time I'd plug it in, was priceless.  It was like he was seeing the most amazing thing in the world each and every time.

We had a very busy holiday, but were lucky to be able to see almost all of the extended family.  That doesn't happen very often, so it was nice to spend time with them, even if it was a quick visit.  I could ramble more, but I'll let the pictures do the talking.  G is a very lucky, spoiled (in a good way) little boy.  He has so many people that love him, it just amazes me how much people care about him!  We owe a lot everyone for his wonderful Christmas.  Even though he didn't really care to open his gifts, he sure has enjoyed playing with them!

 Finding our Christmas tree!

The tree is up and decorated!

Stockings (Griffin now has a matching stocking, but we didn't have it yet.)

I had Matthew cut a piece from the bottom of the tree to make an ornament for G!

Daddy and G with the tree :o)

What is this?!

Opening his first present!

Grandpa Gary and me playing with my new train.

So much love for this little guy!

The bells made pretty sounds!

Talk about a bowl of fun!

Up next, the big first birthday!  I'll save that for another post though :o)
